  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 120ml whole milk
  • 1/2 cup 100g chopped dark chocolate or walnuts (optional)

  • 1/2 cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups 190g powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Prepare the Cake Batter
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line the cake pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
  • In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the oil and sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped chocolate or walnuts, if using, for added texture.
  • Bake the Cake
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  • Prepare the Frosting
  • Beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.
  • Add milk and vanilla extract, adjusting the consistency as needed.
  • Assemble the Cake
  • Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
  • Garnish with a dusting of cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for an added touch.
